Daylesford. Victoria. Australia.
WELCOME TO
Wombat ParK Estate.
Nestled in the heart of Daylesford, Victoria, Wombat Park Estate is one of the region’s most treasured and historically significant properties. A place where heritage, architecture, and landscape come together in rare harmony, Wombat Park is more than just a home—it is a living testament to over 170 years of careful stewardship and design vision.
The origins of Wombat Park trace back to the early 1850s, when pioneering grazier William Stanbridge established the estate. From its earliest days, the property was shaped by a deep appreciation for horticulture and the beauty of the natural world. The garden, first planted in the mid-19th century and thoughtfully developed through subsequent generations, is of State significance—recognized as one of Victoria’s most important and intact examples of a 19th-century homestead garden.
At its centre stands a distinguished residence, a superb example of the Arts and Crafts architectural style, designed by the renowned Melbourne architect Rodney Alsop in the early 20th century. This grand yet sensitively scaled home sits amid 250 acres of sweeping farmland and magnificent gardens, offering a window into both the domestic and agricultural heritage of central Victoria.
Today, Wombat Park is home to an extraordinary array of mature exotic trees and rare specimens, some planted over 150 years ago. These include towering Monterey pines, Monkey Puzzle trees, Himalayan cedars, and majestic English oaks. So remarkable was this collection that in 1885, the Daylesford Advocate declared it “superior to any that can be seen in any private or public garden in Victoria.”
